Tips for running the mile at school?

Question from D
We have fitness testing coming up this week.
What are some tips for running the mile without totally collapsing? I’m in pretty good shape. I’m flexible and I can lift weights, but I can’t run too well. I can do at least two laps around the track we have, but I get sooo tired. We have to do four laps (it’s a BIG track) so what can I do to pace myself and not get sick the next day (I always get sick)

just slowly work your speed up and up, dont try and over-do it.
i’d start off very slow and keep that pace the whole time unless at one point you feel you can pick it up and still finish, i mean dont over do it, im guessing your not a runner and this is just a fitness test, they’re not looking for the next track star just that you can do a mile in a decent time and you give your best
Try to keep your breathing as slow as you can.
This will really help.
Concentrateing on your breathing will make the run seem a lot shorter.
Also, try out different lengths for your stride and find which is most comfortable.
Lastly, you can always keep running.
Even when you think you can’t take another step…just push through it.
