when you run for the first time in a long while you tear a lot of muscles (which is good) because you uses more muscle than day to day running so your legs were probably killing you the morning you got up the morning after your first run. if so you should not have gone on a run but rather rest for a day or 2 because if you run while your muscles have freshly torn then you will cause more damage and the muscle wont rebuild well so you wont go much strength so if your legs are killing you you should probably take a rest

Because yesterday you caused "micro tears" in the muscle fibers, as you exercised - this is essentially how muscles develop and enlarge - so after you ran, your body began the repair process, and your muscles today were still recovering. I bet your legs felt like they were filled with lead. When you start off with a big bang like that, you should expect to be sore the next day, or at least still and heavy-feeling. Better to plan on warming up well with walking, jumping jacks, etc, then stretching and doing something like an easy run/walk to help get the lactic acid that's accumulated in the muscles moving out of the muscles. Then plan to run again the next day or the day after. Also drink a lot of water to help the body get rid of the toxins.

PS I like your self-description! Funny.
