Is running 2 milesevery day as good as a 4 mile run 3 times a week?

Question from babog

Im usually a 3 mile runner – But have had limited time since I had a baby. It works for me to run 2 miles (20 mins) everyday, followed by free weights every day. However is this a good strategy for weight control/fitness?

    Yes
But its better to run more often for a shorter time, than run more for a longer period of time

At least for fitness, you usually get more out of at least 30-45 minutes per session.

Alternating days and/or doing cross training also gives your body more of a chance to recover so you can get more out of your sessions. You may want to see if you can do something like an exercise bike for extended time, at least occasionally.

If your schedule is limited and you really truly can do only 20 minutes every day, whatever you can get in is far better than nothing, and you shouldn’t worry too too much, unless perhaps you’re training for something specific. You might simply want to see if there’s one day per week — perhaps on the weekend — when you can get in a longer run.
