How to make cramps go away while your running?

Question from Blake 125
I’m 12 years old and in middle school we get timed on our mile for our physical fitness challenge. Last year i got 8:30 because of cramps, and i don’t know how to make these go away. It really slows me down. My gym teacher told me to put my hands on top of my head when I run, but that doesn’t help. Can somebody please help me with this?

HI my dad is like an expert runner and this is what he said to do.. It is called belly breathing and what you do is as soon as you feel a cramp coming on.. you breathe in and try to stick your stomach out and when you breathe out and pull your belly in… what this does is work out your cramp. I run cross country and I do it all the time it serioulsy hhelps!!!
Bananas help A LOT. The potassium in Bananas helps prevent and reduce the intensity of cramps, and also keeps your heart rate in check. Have one about 20 minutes before a run.
Also, if you feel a cramp coming take a deep breath while trying to stick out your gut, and then exhale while pulling it back in. This is a pretty common tactic for running and helps your muscles relax and essentially work out any cramps.
Do not eat any solid for at least 2 hours before running. Do not eat a large meal for at least 6 hours before running. Liquids like juice are ok in the 2 hours prior to running.
