How much softball training goes to fitness?

Question from dante44b
I joined, mainly for exercise but of course just for the fun and social aspect too. How much will be set aside for fitness? As much as football (soccer)? Our coach did huge amounts of fitness in football training; jog 2k, sprints, running with the ball etc.

There is some fitness in softball but not as much as other sports. You must have skill to play softball like throwing, catching, fielding, hitting, etc. You will also long distances. Don’t forget having skills.
Softball is a game of power and quick burst of movement. If you want to hit solidly, complete a steal, Get that out on home from the outfield or just have that first quick step, conditioning should be part of your training.
If you want to be an over-all dominant player fitness and physical preparedness will be part of you training program.
Including fitness in your training will give you an edge from others and it will keep you going until the 7th inning
