more running then you could imagine unfortunately. continue to run, but consider a balance nutrition as well if you haven’t started/done that. running burns calories but not as much as one would hope. best time to run is in the morning if you want to maximize the efficiency. I would focus on the areas of concern. So if its in the ab area you want to work on, try a mix of ab exercises. Swimming would be a great idea as well.

It’s hard to say, cuz we have no idea what your size is now…. how tall you are, or how much you weigh…. and where you’re trying to lose the 3-4 inches. If you’re trying to get cut and not look so bulky, you may have to change your diet around a little bit too. Try to cut down on the calories you eat every day, but only by a little bit, say 5-10% at most. You’ll not have to make drastic changes, just little ones… or you can try to cut out bad carbs, if you haven’t already.

I don’t know what your workout routine is, but if you’re not doing any circuit training, you could try that as well. That got my arms tones up pretty quickly (back when I was actually working out, now I’m a fat slob).

I like swimming for people who aren’t doing normal workout programs. If you’re trying to get those muscles ripped up, then swimming might not be the best way to do it… although, it’s probably the best thing you can do for cardio vascular activity, which is why I recommend it to older people, or people who are just trying to stay healthy.

Have you ever seen a swimmer before? They look big, but you hardly ever see any muscle definition. That’s because they are in the water, where it’s colder than the outside temperature, normally. Your body creates a little blubber to counteract that cold water. If you see a swimmer that does have muscle definition, it’s because they are in a strength training program, where they do other exercises other than swimming.
