		<description>First things that come to my mind are testing both VO2 max and their recovery heart rate in 1-2 minutes after exercise. 

I would train a group of people who are generally in good health but not in the best shape for running. Try to find participants with similar health. 

Put one half of this group and commit them to only running

Put the other half into a balance of both running and working out

Then get your results from the effects after about 4 weeks. I personally believe though that you have to be specific when you say the &quot;just running group&quot; do you mean long distance running, sprints, fartlek running, hills? be specific on that. 

From my experience I know for a fact that only running is not the best for your health because although it does help cardiovascularly you miss out on a lot of benefits of lifting weights and resistance training.</description>
