How can I improve my overall fitness?

I would like to be able to run faster and for longer, are there any good excercises that anyone could recommend?

    1) Exercise apporpriately for your body type, size and current health. ( if you haven’t exercised in more than 4 years then don’t immeadiately try to run a marathon)

    2) Eat healthier. (watch portions, carbs and calories)

    3) Become more active a little at a time. (walk the stairs instead of the elevator)

    That’s what I started doing last month and I can see progress.

    vary your workouts.

    run one day, aerobics the next day, and switch off, add in whatever you like (swimming, biking) each of these recruit different energy systems and use different muscles in different ways. your overall fitness level will benefit from this, and it will benefit your runs because you won’t be wearing your body out by doing the same thing everyday.
