I went to a really pricey althetic shoe store to make sure I got just the right shoe to train for a half marathon. Almost every other pair of running shoes I had gave me terrible blisters and really got to my knee after a few weeks. The sales guy suggested these and said he ran in the men’s version. I loved them from the start! I’ve been running in them for almost a year now (which is probably too long) and they have held up great. I did read some reviews before buying them about them splitting on the sides, but I have not had any problems like that thus far. I’ve only run about 400 miles in them, but I see no signs of cracking or breaking. Granted I did only use these for running, it’s possible if you wear these day to day with a variety of tasks they would wear differently. I’m buying a new pair, really only because it’s recommended that you get new running shoes by now. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy this shoe and I’ve found great prices on them now that the Trance 9 has come out!

More years ago than I care admit I had a “slip and fall” accident that ripped the ligaments in my right foot. Ever since then I’ve limped along, with just relief for a few weeks at a time with the purchase of a new pair of athletic shoes. I’ve tried all brands and styles but once I had worn them for 2-3 weeks the side support disappeared and I’d need to buy a new pair. When these showed up in the Gold Box my husband suggested that I try the Brooks brand, as he had worn them in the past and felt they were good quality.
It’s been nearly 2 months since these arrived and I’ve worn them every day. Today they’re providing a comfortable walk and just as much support as when they were new. I know they won’t last forever but I’m watching for another sale and when I find a good price I’ll be stocking up!

These shoes are excellent for distance running, but they do not last. They are supposed to be good for 350 – 500 miles, but my daughter has found that they split on the sides after about 200 miles.
We contacted Brooks about the problem, but they declined to do anything about it to make it right.
This has happened with two pairs of these shoes.

I love the Trance 8 – am on my third pair and just ordered 6 more! Brooks put a slight arch support into Trance 9 and it doesn’t hit my foot right – very uncomfortable. I’m so thankful that Trance 8 seems to have been re-issued. I’ve now stocked up. Great motion control and just the right amount of cushioning. I was born with flat feet, and this shoe is absolutely the most comfortable running shoe I’ve tried. I get about 450 to 500 miles out of each pair.
